Conference Overview

As a neonatal nurse, you often encounter challenges in your efforts to provide innovative and comprehensive care for your tiny patients and their families. Clinical dilemmas, new therapeutic interventions and medical controversies continually test our knowledge. This requires that we keep our clinical skills sharp and fresh – integrating the most current data and research-based best practices into daily care.

How can we meet these demands and still maintain our professional energy and enthusiasm? Join us at the 28th National Conference of Neonatal Nursing, designed to provide a forum for interactive collaboration with colleagues and experts in the field. Share your success stories and discover how others are working to provide the best possible care for these delicate patients. Presented by a diverse faculty with broad expertise and hands-on experience, this program has something for everyone!

Highlights include:

  • Two Pre-Conferences: “Advanced Pathophysiology” which can serve as an excellent review for the Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing Certification Exam, and “Neonatal Feeding & Nutrition”, providing key presentations to improve your care of these complicated infants.
  • Main Conference topics offering evidence-based updates and practical strategies to improve your clinical practice, as well as in-depth information which can be used as further review for the certification exam.
  • The ability to “design your own Conference,” by choosing from numerous interactive Concurrent Sessions.
  • Case studies, small group or panel discussions, and collaborative exchanges.
  • Opportunities for interaction with dynamic leaders in the neonatal field.
  • Time to share ideas, problem-solve and build professional relationships with colleagues from across the nation.
  • Take a break from the cold weather and renew your enthusiasm for nursing while enjoying all the fun of Las Vegas – the sun-filled city of excitement, fabulous food and headliner entertainment!

Advanced Pathophysiology: Certification Exam Review

Tuesday - Wednesday, March 16-17

This two-day Pre-Conference will provide a comprehensive review of Neonatal Pathophysiology for NICU nurses, nurse practitioners and clinical nurse specialists who are interested in taking the Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing Certification Exam, or just increasing their knowledge base and understanding of the neonate. Course content will provide an overview of the various organ systems as well as address the physiologic basis of disease states seen in the neonate. Although clinical and management correlates will be mentioned during the presentations, the primary focus will be on understanding the pathophysiologic basis of disease in neonates.

Certification exams are offered through the National Certification Corporation (NCC) and the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN). For more information about these exams, eligibility and application process, please visit their websites at www.nccnet.org and www.aacn.org.
