FORENSIC TRENDS: PSYCHIATRIC & BEHAVIORAL ISSUES

Highlights and Benefits

Contemporary Forums is pleased to announce and invite you to a new, cutting-edge forensic educational event. The inaugural Forensic Trends: Psychiatric & Behavioral Issues conference, presented in collaboration with the American Institute of Forensic Education (AIFE), is offered in light of the current barometer of interpersonal violence and crime in the United States, as well as globally. This conference directly responds to examination and identification of those trends in the medico-legal arena which continue to evolve at an exponential rate. As a result, it is critical to not only remain familiar with the foundations of forensic practice within a variety of settings, but to also explore new and innovative approaches to the many challenges this field presents.

Specifically, conference presentations will explore issues of forensic assessment of behavior, interventions and ongoing technological advancements that enhance comprehensive analysis and contributions to both the law enforcement and judicial facets of work with offenders and survivors. The program will examine concerns that are vitally important in order to secure the best possible legal and therapeutic outcomes. Bring your questions and take part in thought-provoking discussions in an environment conducive to both learning and thinking outside the box.

Highlights of the 2008 conference include:

  • Nationally and internationally known presenters from a broad array of interdisciplinary forensic research and practice backgrounds.

  • Two dynamic Preconferences presented by experts in their fields:

Twilight Murders–Elder Women and Their Offenders: A Study in Sexual Assault and Homicide focusing on victim characteristics, crime scene attributes and offender demographics which have been defined and have improved the understanding and investigation of these crimes.

Violent Offenders and Crime Scene Behaviors: Through the Lens of the Psychopathic Personality Construct highlighting the unique characteristics of psychopathic violent offenders and their crime scenes, and the implications for interaction with both mental health professionals and law enforcement.

  • Concurrent Session topics addressing a wide spectrum of psychiatric and behavioral issues, allowing you to tailor the conference experience to meet your individual educational needs and interests.

  • Case studies and technological demonstrations interwoven within the didactic content in order to bring the information to life.

  • Ample opportunity to interact, exchange ideas and build relationships with both faculty and colleagues.

Plan now to attend this dynamic, unique educational conference. Come and network with pioneers and experts in the forensic arena, and enjoy the excitement and entertainment that Las Vegas has to offer!
