Tim J. Bristol, PhD, RN

As the Director of Nursing at Crown College, Dr. Bristol is both a Nurse Educator and E-Learning Specialist who has taught faceto- face (F2F) and on-line courses in undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. He has provided faculty development for public and private institutions, facilitated strategic planning for E-Learning, and served as a coach for faculty and administrators. Dr. Bristol also assists organizations in developing effective instructional design for F2F, clinical and laboratory resource centers. His experience in using new technology as well as teaching nurse educators about its use made him the ideal choice for taking the role as the chairperson for this new and exciting event.

Gregory A. DeBourgh, EdD, RN

Dr.DeBourgh is a nationally known faculty member who presents practical sessions for nurse educators in a variety of settings. He conducts ongoing educational research to explore the impact of technology and instructional design on advanced reasoning skill acquisition, student satisfaction, and the learning experience in distance-delivered nursing curricula and technology-enriched classroom instruction. He also instructs nursing students in advanced therapeutics and reasoning, as well as leadership and management behaviors. In addition to his faculty role, Dr. DeBourgh provides consultative services on professional development, performance improvement, as well as clinical and administrative supervision. He has practiced in clinical, administrative, and academic roles for 32 years and is well known for his dynamically entertaining and insightful presentations on technology-enriched classroom instruction.

Pamela A. Jeffries, DNS, RN, FAAN, ANEF

Dr. Jeffries has received numerous university, national and international teaching awards for her innovative and collaborative endeavors. She was the Project Director of a 3-year simulation study funded by the National League for Nursing and the Laerdal Corporation and has led a multi-site research study supporting the use of simulations in nursing curricula. Dr. Jeffries’ research focus and numerous publications have addressed online learning development, implementation, and evaluation, innovative teaching strategies as well as simulations. She serves as a consultant nationally and internationally on developing and evaluating innovations in nurse education.

 


Diane J. Skiba, PhD, FAAN, FACMI

Dr. Skiba has taught nursing infomatics since 1982 and was awarded the NLN Excellence in Teaching in 2005. She is currently funded by a grant from the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) Division of Nursing Advanced Nurse Education Training which supports an online Master’s degree program and funds an innovative online community to support informatics learners. Dr. Skiba was recently appointed to the National Advisory Council on Nurse Education and Practice (NACNEP) and writes a column on Emerging Technologies for the Nursing Educational Perspectives journal. She, along with four colleagues including Dr. Pamela Jeffries, was recently awarded one of the HRSA funded Faculty Development: Integrating Technology into Nursing Education and Practice Initiative grants. This grant is targeted toward preparing faculty to learn about informatics, telehealth, simulations and other emerging educational technologies. Her technological expertise is a wonderful resource for nurse educators who are seeking to integrate technology into their own nurse education curriculum.

Mary J. Yoho, PhD, RN, CNE

As Director of Research in Nursing at Elsevier, Dr. Yoho conducts analysis of Evolve Reach examination data as part of Elsevier’s continuous quality improvement (CQI) program. She also acts as Director of Faculty Development and Consultation on eEducation, providing national workshops on testing and test construction for nurse education faculty. Dr. Yoho has written articles that have appeared in Teaching and Learning in Nursing, Policy, Politics and Nursing Practice, and Geriatric Nursing as well as participating as a contributing author to several nursing books and to the HESI NCLEX-PN Review Manual. Her past experience as director of a community college associate degree nursing program has enabled her to address practical aspects of testing by providing tips and tools that can improve the consistency and quality of student performance measurement as well as make the testing process easier for nurse educators to use.

Dr. Zerwekh is a nurse author, educator, and consultant on nurse education curriculum development and integration of E-learning. Her numerous publications and consulting work focus on addressing the various learning needs of students using technology, visual images, and humor. She has taught in traditional (face-to-face), online and blended undergraduate and graduate programs in both nursing and higher education. She has mentored and coached faculty in the areas of writing, e-learning, and curriculum development.
