The Stress of Learning Following TBI: Educating Patients and Families

Though traumatic brain injury results in an instant need, providing clear, timely, and meaningful education is challenging for family and people with TBI. This interactive session will focus on strategies for providing TBI education across age ranges and the continuum of care. Participants are encouraged to bring materials they commonly use for group discussion.

Objectives: Upon completion, participants will be able to:

  • Identify principles that drive health education following catastrophic injury.
  • Describe approaches for educating families and persons affected by TBI across settings.
  • Explain various education strategies for mild and severe TBI and for pediatric and adult patients.
